Oh my, we had SUCH a great time this weekend.
From the website:
Located in the natural splendor of Punderson State Park, only 50 minutes Southeast of Cleveland.
Punderson Manor Lodge & Conference Center is a historic English Tudor Style mansion featuring 31 spacious guestrooms, 26 fully furnished two bedroom cottages, a conference center that accommodates up to 100 and an elegant full service dining room that boasts breathtaking views of Punderson Lake.
Activities abound year-round in this beautiful setting. Enjoy the tranquility of relaxing at the indoor and outdoor pools. Wade a while at the sandy beach, play tennis, volleyball, basketball or enjoy a challenging round of golf on our picturesque 18-hole championship golf course. There is also plenty of hiking with 14 miles of beautiful winding park trails.
When winter saunters in, you can snowmobile, cross-country ski, ice fish, ice skate, or toboggan down our "Fast & Steep" sled hill.
Here the unforgettable is yours to enjoy. Grab your sweetheart and escape for a romantic weekend or reserve the entire lodge for a company retreat or conference.
Punderson Manor Lodge & Conference Center is open year-round.
First of all, it’s just a beautiful setting.
From the website
Also from the website, but very close to what it looked like for us, as it was still snowy up there.
This is from my Crackberry. Okay, so there wasn’t snow on the roof, but the rest is accurate.
From the website, the spiral staircase to our room.
The next few pics are from my Blackberry and are of our room. We stayed in the Georgian room.
Sorry for the lighting – we arrived around 4ish and it was, well, Ohio so overcast and grey. There were three windows in the room, since were were on the end and our room jutted out a bit on the other side. Loved all of the light (what there was of it coming in).
That raccoon on the bed? Greatest marketing ploy ever. If you take it with you, they will go ahead and charge your room for it. So imagine, having a kid and s/he runs in and says, ohhhhh, stuffed animal. You’re done. You are buying that. We didn’t – I found a fawn I wanted instead. Lol.
One of the views from the dining room.
This place has nooks all over. This was the library, not too far from our room.
The food – the food was freakin’ amazing!! Friday night we had the Shellfish Stuffed Portabella for our appetizer. Then we both ordered pasta – I continued my love affair with portabellas and ordered the Portabella Pasta. BUT – the rolls were SO good, I was too stuffed to make more than a dent in it.
We took their Cobb Salad back to the room in case we had the munchies later on, but that didn’t happen. So we saved it for lunch on Saturday.
Saturday morning we were up and ready for breakfast by 9am. Honestly, though, we were both still stuffed from dinner, so we both went light. I just had the Victorian breakfast.
The Cobb Salad, which we had for lunch around 3pm, was SO good that I decided I wanted another one for dinner. And lots of rolls. And a cup of the Lobster Bisque.
Today we took part in the breakfast buffet. You know how food can be kind of nasty when it’s been sitting in chafing dishes with sterno heat under it? That didn’t happen here!! It was sooooo delicious. I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, fruit, and a cheese danish. Small bits of each – but quite filling.
You will not leave Punderson Manor hungry. The room, the food, the surroundings – it was just perfect. I told Future Hubby that we have
to come back in summer so we can see this:
And again in fall so we can see this:
Hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend !!
